I spent the weekend at a wonderful place in the hearts of the country with a group of girls aged 7-10, the Girl Scouts I help with. =) It was the utmost fun and has confirmed my decision to go into teaching/working with young children when I am older. There were arguments over sweeties, an allergic reaction to Glo-Sticks, tears, tantrums, screams and hugs galore; and I learnt alot about the girls and myself.
The theme was Piraten (pirates) and they had treasure hunts, made eye patches and smuggled chocolate into the dormitories. I would need 5 more hands to count how many times we played tag, even more to count how many hugs I gave. There were visits to the First Aid Room for tablespoons of Calpol, a bleeding lip and a bump to the head. There were countless games of "Prisoners" and "Blind Man’s Buff", long walks to the end of the field and protests against the sweet raid in the bedroom. Outrage at the mist which stopped the girls playing on the adventure playground.
But it was FUN. We were a team - consoling each other when sad, hugging when homesick and jumping when joyful. =) We sang songs around a campfire, danced and cooked scrambled eggs. Iced cupcakes, boiled milk and danced too. It was such a fulfilling experience especially when Alessandra stopped crying for her parents, when she finally realised how much fun she was having.
Unfortunately I don’t have model releases for any of the girls but here’s a picture of Rhi’s suitcase, all packed up - and a beautiful sunrise. I feel blessed for having such a fun-filled, adventure-packed and fulfilling time. =)

Better viewed at full size. =) Love yoouuu!
