See ya!

I had a GREAT birthday yesterday! My friend and I went ice-skating at Alexandra Palace and then my family came round for tea. I’ll be missing in action for a few days since I am going to the airport in an hour to fly to Berlin (I cannot wait!) but wanted to pop in to say bye and let you know that I haven’t just vanished into thin air. =) I’ll be back on Thursday with lots of pictures to share.

Have a great week! Love Lulu

I’m almost sixteen!

Tomorrow, in fact, is my sixteenth birthday. Today we drove up to the countryside to visit my grandfather who was 74 today. We also saw my beautiful beautiful cousin Lottie who is almost one year old. She’s a great model too! It was a truly lovely day, and I am now rather excited about tomorrow too! =) Here’s a random selection of pictures from our wonderful day. Have a great evening everybody!

Oh, and I just want to take this chance to thank each and every one of you who visits this blog. Without you, I would be unmotivated, uninspired and completely awful! I truly appreciate all your comments and encouragement, so THANK YOU all. ♥

Happy Saint Valentine’s Day :)

We exchanged roses from our gardens at school, just between friends since I go to an all-girls school. =) It was fun. I came home and took pictures of my rose, a symbol of the great friends I have at school.

 I ♥ it! My quotation today is one I stumbled upon recently. I love it again! ;=}

"The love we give away is the only love we keep." ~ Elbert Hubbard

Sorry, sorry, sorry!

For the hiatus. I have a HUGELY MASSIVE COLOSSAL assignment of Chemistry (which I find really difficult) that goes towards our final grade which will help (or not) get you into a good university and go on your CV when you apply for jobs so, yeah, I thought that should come before blogging this week. Unfortunately. I have missed it! But I’m back! The piece isn’t finished yet but will be soon. Haven’t picked up the camera yet but plan to …

My quotation today is one that I always tell myself when I am feeling blue. I don’t remember where I heard it or if it is just something I made up myself but it is my phrase…and it helps me get through.

"There is much more good in this world than bad. If you don’t remember anything else in your life, remember that."

I’ve been tagged (again)!

By Melissa (thanks girl!) and I have to say 6 things that make me happy. =}

1. Having a big family gathering, naturally.

2. Divine natural light ;=)

3. Reading a GREAT novel (such as The Secret Life of Bees, a MUST-read).

4. Going to church.

5. The sound of the shutter clicking when you just *know* you snapped a keeper (I’m sure y’all can relate to that)!

6. Snuggling down in bed with my two kittens by my side.

I TAG Tara, Mindy and Stacey. =)

It’s Saturday!

Hello! How are you all? I was feeling a bit blue this morning but feel much better now. Here’s a photo of the snow, I love the way our footprints fanned out into a kinda flowery shape. =) The snow is alll gone now, so it’s nice to be able to step outside without wellington boots and 55 layers, but  do sort of miss it too!

While I’m here, how do you like my new logo? All the cool people have one, so even though I’m not in business, I thought I’d make one just so I could mark my photographs with it. I don’t have a quotation today, sorry! Haven’t got the energy to look around and find one…yes, I know I am being idle…but we all can be sometimes right?! Sorry for the incredibly boring post, will be better tomorrow!

Sans School

Hello everyone! Just have time to pop in for a bit of blogging before I dash off to Girl Scouts for the evening and then settle down to watch Ugly Betty (who else loves that show)?! =) It has been a little boring with no school, and procrastination set in so I got no homework done, but I have taken lots of photographs and thought I would share a selection. Oh, and guess what? It is STILL snowing…you won’t understand how absolutely huge a deal this is unless you live in England but it is all over the news and over 2500 schools are closed. All public transport is delayed…it’s chaotic, but fun. We haven’t had snow like this in 25 years. =)

1/100, f/5.6, ISO 100

1/320, f/1.8, ISO 400 ~ a self-portrait that I wanted to post-process completely outta my comfort zone! YES, it IS blown out intentionally. Yay or no? I’m indecisive, as per usual.

And that’ll be all for now…I wouldn’t want to bore you now, would I? =) My quotation (Mindy! Mindy! You’re doing good!) today is by my favourite author (one of them, at least) - Miss Louisa May Alcott.

"Far away there in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow where they lead." ~ Louisa May Alcott

It snowed again!

This is my second time writing this post…don’t you HATE it when that happens? It snowed again - almost unheard of for London, about 10cm of snow feel throughout the night. Only 100 students out of 1,000 showed up so we watched La Bella e Vita (great film) and played in the snow. We got sent home early and there’s no school tomorrow and I am glad because I can practise my photography, much as I love school!! I am planning to get my sister to do a shoot for me in return for me doing something with her. Cross your fingers that it works!

f/4, 1/200, ISO 100  - my sister in the snow this morning =)

A photograph that exemplies how unco-operative my sister is! =) Oh well! I was happy she didn’t run. The light is fabulous today, this was at about 3 ‘o clock and I loved being able to shoot with ISO 100 and closing up the 50mm a bit…it IS sharp! I just want to thank you all again for the wonderful comments you leave me, I could not do this without you all! Oh, and sorry for all the exclamation marks…

Stacey, thanks for referring Carley here…if you want to e-mail me, Carley, my address is lulu@musician.org … I would LOVE to talk to you. My quotation for today is an all-time favourite of mine, and one that everyone should remember and try to follow.

"We have only this moment, sparkling like a star in our hands. Begin what you want to do now." ~ Francis Bacon

Do you like this?

I am undecided.  =) See yoooouuu. Oh, and this is my picture for today! And my quotation (LOL Mindy) is:

I don’t think of all the misery but of the beauty that still remains. ~ Anne Frank

My favourite quotation of all time. So true. Gotta love Anne Frank’s tenacity and optimism. =)

Ooopsy Daisy. =)

I missed a day! Life has been hectic and full (in a good way) and I have hardly had any computer time let alone picked up the camera. My teachers are throwing homework assignments at us left, right and centre and there seem to be so many other things to do. This is why I LOVE February. It’s such a great month. Not only is it my birthday, but snowdrops are blooming and the skies are blue….aaah, it’s just beautiful.

I thought I’d do a quotation a day for the month of February. I love quotations (although my pet peeve is when people call them ‘quotes’ because that is the verb and ‘quotation’ is the noun =] ) …. so I thought I’d find a nice quotation about happiness since I have been feeling so fulfilled and happy recently. Just happy that I am so blessed and lucky and ALIVE. It’s feels good to be part of this world and to have such great opportunities and all. Sorry, if that sounds clique but it’s true. I am so happy to be me. =)

All seasons are beautiful for the person who carries happiness within. ~ Horace Friess

What a GREAT weekend.

I spent the weekend at a wonderful place in the hearts of the country with a group of girls aged 7-10, the Girl Scouts I help with. =) It was the utmost fun and has confirmed my decision to go into teaching/working with young children when I am older. There were arguments over sweeties, an allergic reaction to Glo-Sticks, tears, tantrums, screams and hugs galore; and I learnt alot about the girls and myself.

The theme was Piraten (pirates) and they had treasure hunts, made eye patches and smuggled chocolate into the dormitories. I would need 5 more hands to count how many times we played tag, even more to count how many hugs I gave. There were visits to the First Aid Room for tablespoons of Calpol, a bleeding lip and a bump to the head. There were countless games of "Prisoners" and "Blind Man’s Buff", long walks to the end of the field and protests against the sweet raid in the bedroom. Outrage at the mist which stopped the girls playing on the adventure playground.

But it was FUN. We were a team - consoling each other when sad, hugging when homesick and jumping when joyful. =) We sang songs around a campfire, danced and cooked scrambled eggs. Iced cupcakes, boiled milk and danced too. It was such a fulfilling experience especially when Alessandra stopped crying for her parents, when she finally realised how much fun she was having.

Unfortunately I don’t have model releases for any of the girls but here’s a picture of Rhi’s suitcase, all packed up - and a beautiful sunrise. I feel blessed for having such a fun-filled, adventure-packed and fulfilling time. =)

Better viewed at full size. =) Love yoouuu!

Blue Skies

Today was a beautiful blue sky. I feel like spring is coming. Yay! I love spring. The apple blossom and green grass and snowdrops popping up here and there. =) I won’t be posting tomorrow because I am going away with Girl Scouts (I help, good experience for when I am a teacher) but will be back soon with lotsa photos hopefully of little ones! See yooouuu! Love you all! =)

It’s February! Woo!

Hurrah! Huzzah! Congratulations to everyone who has made it thus far. =) It has been lotsa fun!! I love reading everyone’s blogs and I love the comments you write for me, plus I LOVE how this challenges me to think outside the box. I had a great day today and got a great mark in English Literature and yep, spread the joy! Be happy! =)

Will be back to post images in a second!
